This consisted of two presentations:
Brian Coll is a lecturer in the School of Engineering at the Institute of Technology, Sligo, Ireland where he currently teaches on the quality and engineering programmes.  He lectures primarily to online students and was instrumental in developing the first podcasts of lectures for online students in Ireland.  Brian is a regular contributor of papers and articles to the news media, industry publications and conferences on trends in online higher education particularly as it relates to the use of new technology in helping to up-skill the workforce. Prior to joining IT Sligo, he held senior positions in multinational electronics companies working in Europe, USA and Mexico.


Lawrence C. Ragan, Ph.D., is director of faculty development for Penn State's World Campus. He is responsible for directing the design and development of systems and services to meet the professional training needs of the online and blended educator. Dr. Ragan has taught in the online classroom for over nine years and has experience with integrating a wide range of electronic media technologies into the instructional process in order to create dynamic, student-centered learning systems. He is a frequent workshop coordinator and has presented internationally on the topics of instructional design, multimedia development, faculty development issues and instructional design for distance education. Dr. Ragan has also served as co-director of the EDUCAUSE Institute’s Learning Technology Leadership Program and the Penn State/Sloan-C Institute for Emerging Leadership
in Online Learning program.
