March 3rd, 2010: 1.15pm - 2pm.
Blaithin McGrath is a lecturer and Programme Chair in the School of Science at the Institute of Technology, Sligo, Ireland. She has always had an interest in student centred learning and in 2008 as both lecturer and Programme Chair on the Occupational Safety and Health Programme she was instrumental in redesigning the range of courses within the Programme to incorporate teaching and learning through a multidisciplinary model of enquiry based learning (EBL). This involved co-ordinating 14 lecturing staff on the programme to deliver learning outcomes through enquiry based learning modules.
In her webinar Blaithin will focus on her experiences as a practitioner and as the co-ordinator of a team using this approach. She will also give an insight into the student experience of EBL. Blaithin has presented nationally on this subject and her interest in this area has led her to carrying out research on the effectiveness of enquiry based learning in addressing the National Framework Qualification Science Standards.
Recording now available.
