Webinar series to resume on Jan 19th

Happy New Year to you all and welcome back to the latest from the IT Sligo/NDLR Webinar Series.  We modestly think we have a great line up of presentations for you.

Personally I'm very excited about the first one we have coming up on January 19th.  Dr. Mark Bullen, of BCIT in Canada is going to give a presentation entitled "Separating Fact from Fiction in the Digital Generation Discourse". In my early days teaching Information Technology, I used to think that things would change with the new wave of students who would soon to be coming to us that had been immersed in the use of technology since childhood.  Mark Prensky's Digital Immigrants/Natives theory seemed very plausible to me.  However, this new wave of students never came and I was fascinated and pleased when I stumbled upon Mark Bullen's blog, "The NetGen Skeptic".  So, I was thrilled when this Mark agreed to do a talk for us.  Now, as he is broadcasting from "the west coast" (not the one I'm on), the webinar will take place at 4.10pm (which is about 8am in Vancouver).  So I'm hoping see lots of there for this relatively controversial presentation and please pass along the details to your skeptical friends.

After that here is a complete list of the speakers and topics coming up (All at 1.10pm - 2pm):

  • Jan 19th: "Separating Fact from Fiction in the Digital Generation Discourse", Dr. Mark Bullen,  BCIT, Canada
